There are prominent periodicals edited by Center faculty, staff, and students. They also are involved on editorial boards of other periodicals in disability law and policy, disability studies and related subject areas.
- Journal of Disability Law - The Social Science Research Network (SSRN) is pleased to announce the addition of the Journal of Disability Law to the Legal Scholarship Network. The Journal is sponsored by the College of Law Disability Law and Policy (DLP) Program of Syracuse University’s Center on Human Policy, Law, and Disability Studies (CHPLDS) and is edited by Arlene S. Kanter, Arlene S. Kanter, Meredith Professor of Law; Director, Disability Law and Policy Program, Syracuse University, College of Law; Co-Director, Syracuse University Center on Human Policy, Law, and Disability Studies; and Michael A. Schwartz, Assistant Professor of Law; Director, Disability Rights Clinic, Syracuse University, College of Law. The Journal of Disability Law welcomes abstracts of papers, forthcoming articles, and recently-published articles and reviews which address issues of domestic, comparative, and international disability law and policy and disability studies, including issues related to mental health and mental disability law and policy. The Journal addresses legal issues, legislation, policy and a critical examination of disability as part of diversity in the US and in other societies throughout the world. All abstracts and papers are available online, however a subscription may be required to access full papers.
- Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD) - Steve Taylor, Co-Director of the Center on Human Policy, Law, and Disability Studies, serves as Editor of Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD) (formerly Mental Retardation), a journal published by the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AAIDD), and the SU Center on Human Policy, Law, and Disability Studies currently serves as Editorial Offices for the publication. Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) is among the top journals in special education and rehabilitation. It is a journal of policy, practices, and perspectives for professionals and families interested in mental retardation and related developmental disabilities and is dedicated to meeting the information needs of those who seek effective ways to help people with intellectual disabilities (formerly referred to as developmental disabilities or mental retardation). The journal reports new teaching approaches, program developments, administrative tools, program evaluation, service utilization studies, community surveys, public policy issues, training and case studies, and current research in intellectual disabilities. It is a peer-reviewed journal whose consulting editors represent a broad spectrum of settings: universities, research centers, public and private residential care facilities, and specialized community service agencies.
