Components of the Center
The Center encompasses four components:
Academic Programs
The Center builds on the current Disability Studies programs of the University, including the School of Education’s Certificate in Advanced Study in Disability Studies, the College of Law’s Disability Law and Policy program, the joint degree program in law and education, and the new joint degree program in law and social work.
Research
The role of public education is central to policy changes that promote the inclusion and equality of people with disabilities in society. Through its funded projects, the Center provides information nationally to people with disabilities, their families, professionals, and the general public through conferences, symposia, community events, and invited speakers.
Training and Advocacy
The Center develops programs, policies, studies, and laws that promote the inclusion and equality of people with disabilities into society through training programs, conferences, law reform efforts, and the publication and dissemination of research and policy papers.
Public Education and Media Relations
