Dr. Mudrick's primary research focus is disability policy, and the factors associated with work disability, employment, and health. Most recently, her research has been on barriers to primary healthcare access by people with disabilities and the utilization, enforcement, and impact of disability civil rights laws. Much of her work has been done in partnership with the
Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF). A project with DREDF completed in 2000 for the National Council on Disability (NCD) evaluated federal agency enforcement of four disability civil rights laws--the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Fair Housing Act Amendments, and the Air Carriers Access Act. Dr. Mudrick was the principal author of the evaluation report on the ADA. These reports can be found at
http://www.ncd.gov. Journal publications focus on disability discrimination and civil rights and childhood disability.
Dr. Mudrick has served on the Board of Directors of the Society for Disability Studies, and has been an active member of the Social Work Section and Disability Section of the American Public Health Association. She serves on the Board of Directors of Liberty Resources and the Professional Advisory Board of the Epilepsy Foundation, Central New York Chapter. She is on the editorial boards of the
Journal of Disability Policy Studies and
Disability and Health Journal.
